This is written using Blogaway. A bit slow typing in portrait mode but it could be useful with images. I'll play with it a while.. error publishing!?
This was meant to replace my spiral journals when my original MacBook AIR arrived, but even now with an iPad, a bunch of Nexus devices, an 808 Pureview, Lumias 930 & 1020, an LG G3, and a Lenovo N20p Chromebook, I still like using paper & pencil.

Should I change the name..?
It's a good year since my MacBook AIR arrived, and now my PC's have been replaced by a second 21.5" iMac, and relegated to 'downstairs'..
The new iMac has been named 'New Snow iMac' so it can easily be found among the many backup partitions on the five WD Passport portable drives, which I rotate on a manual basis.
Growl used to help me keep track of things, but it dropped MailMe when Snow Leopard came out :( Now I use MindNode Pro to keep track of things until Growl sorts itself out.
One of the advantages of getting a 2nd iMac has been the opportunity to erase and reinstall Snow Leopard to one of the partitions. A few 'odd' things had been happening, and now the 'Old Snow iMac' has been rejuvenated, and slimmed back to around 20 GB.
The problems have gone, though I keep finding small things were forgotten by my quick decision to do the erase..

Before the deluge..
I have been busy cleaning up Leopard prior to receiving Snow in the next day or so.. I have 25GB free space, and expect Snow will gain me another 8GB or so :)

Almost forgot
I finally got the Time Capsule back via Eplehuset after several months at Apple repair.. I really suspect someone either at the latter or the former, or both.., screwed up and it fell off the belt.
Anyway, I checked it out a few days after retrieving it from Sandvika, and it does work. Only thing is I have lost the need for it, having invested in an additional AirTunes Airport Express to be able to connect my Squeezebox via proxysta to the ethernet output, which enables it to work OK. So downstairs I am able to play the DAB radio, Airtunes or Squeezebox, and control iTunes via GMote from the HTC Magic.
Quite a setup..

Update on the tech side of things
OK, the last post spoke of my HTC Magic order, but forgot to mention the big change on the PC side of things!
I read about ASRock's ION 330 and was very impressed with the low power high performance offered by this tiny box
ION330.jpeg (image/jpeg) 10K
Not sure if the image will open on the blog..
Having had good Windows 7 RC experience, first on VirtualBox on iMac, then on the old PC, I installed W7 on this little beast and never looked back.
It runs Squeezebox server in the background, so I am able to listen downstairs using Squeezebox coupled via ethernet to a 2nd Airtunes device in 'proxysta'.
Opera also came out with something new called Unite, which effectively runs a media server in the Opera browser, which can be listened to in any browser given the URL and password. Its a bit dodgy to begin with.. overloaded, but has some promise. Comments were either dead against, or 100% for the idea. I sent the URLs to Susan, but she doesn't like trying things, I believe.
What else.. well of course the HTC Magic! But I'll save that for its own post, as I have parcels to collect in Slemmestad.

A beautiful Spring morning
Yesterday's comment to the earlier Time Capsule (TC) post reminded me it was ages since I had updated this journal,, I have been making notes with MindNode Pro on iMac and the vanilla version on AIR, but, here goes on this early morning.
Yesterday Susan SMS'ed med about massive thunderclouds approaching Nærsnes. I couldn't hear any but pulled the plugs anyway. We had a hail storm, and once it had well and truly passed, I plugged everything back in, but the wifi net didn't come up. I then spent an hour or more confirming the Time Capsule had died. possibly hastened to its end by the full backup of iMac using Time Machine earlier that day.
I had to reconfigure things so the Airport Extreme took over as Internet router from TC, which required me to reset the AIrport Express to the new network name AE 245 (n/b & g compatible). God this short amount of text has used 8% of AIR battery..
In the end all but Squeezebox wi-fi worked, and contact with Eplehuset gave me the hope that the repair might be covered by AppleCare agreements on both iMac and AIR. :)
Susan kindly agreed to a Sandvika trip so I can drop it off today.
That's the news for now.

Posting from Safari 4
Well I have the AIR back now, and have been busy installing replacement apps for the Readerware set, i.e. Bookpedia, CDpedia and DVDpedia. The three databases are on the Time Capsule's Data folder and accessible therefore both from iMac and AIR.

Well, I got it to work with Frafam, now for a quick test to the AIR Journal

Macbook AIR in for repair
Its been a while, but I thought I should add that with just a couple of weeks to go of my warranty the iSight camera gave up! So I took it in to Eplehuset by bus, through the sludge.. was surprised just how small Eplehuset in Sandvika Storcenter was. I wonder whether they will advise just what was repaired when I get it back?

Hard to believe..
Just checked my AIR Journal to find the last entry was July 16th!
Since then I have been reading avidly.. both crime stories, a number of new authors, and then in September the financial crisis took off, which resulted in my ordering a bunch of books that enabled me to build up a good background of the causes of the miserable mess...
